BRIDGE OF DON MASTERPLAN

The provision of the new AECC project at Bucksburn provides an opportunity to redevelop the exisiting site at Bridge of Don.

The 50 acre site of the existing AECC lies in an area of predominantly residential and business use. The proposed Local Development Plan (2016), published for consultation by Aberdeen City Council on 20 March 2015, identifies the site as a redevelopment opportunity suitable for mixed use development.

Planning Permission in Principle has been granted for a mixed use scheme subject to suitable arrangements to secure affordable housing and developer contributions relating to primary education, community facilities, sports and recreation, open space and the Strategic Transport Fund.

The mixed use scheme, to be known as Silverburn Park, envisages demolition of existing buildings and a development of residential, commercial and business uses, plus a household waste recycling centre to replace the existing facility at Scotstown Road. The ‘Park and Choose’ facility is being retained.

Further planning applications seeking approval for the detail of these proposals will be made in due course.
